Professor Ernesto Spinelli has gained an international reputation as one of the leading contemporary trainers and theorists of existential analysis as applied to psychology and psychotherapy and, more recently, the related arenas of coaching and conflict mediation. He is a UKCP registered existential psychotherapist, a Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) as well as an accredited executive coach and coaching supervisor. In 1999, Ernesto was awarded a Personal Chair as Professor of psychotherapy, counselling and counselling psychology. Ernesto is Director of ES Associates, an organisation dedicated to the advancement of psychotherapy, coaching, and supervision through specialist seminars and training programmes. If you have read the books this book is a waste of time. It mostly sums up the plot and characters and so forth. If you have not read the books and do not have time to have any fun -- since reading the books is lots of fun -- then this is a quick way to find out what is going on.

Toril Moi is James B. Duke Professor of Literature and Romance Studies at Duke University. Her books include Sexual/Textual Politics: Feminist Literary Theory, Simone de Beauvoir: The Making of an Intellectual Woman and What Is a Woman? And Other Essays.

Christopher Norris is Distinguished Research Professor in Philosophy at the University of Cardiff. He has published some twenty books to date, including, most recently, Deconstruction and the Unfinished Project of Modernity, Quantum Theory and the Flight from Realism, Truth Matters: Realism, Anti-Realism, and Response-Dependence, and Hilary Putnam: Reason, Realism, and the Uses of Uncertainty.

Expect a lot, receive a little.

Interviews with somewhat interesting and strongly entrenched (in their own opinions) white men with a chapter nodding, as usual, to Feminism. The conversations in this book, are divided into sections on life, value, truth, art and feminism. None of them, however, dig beyond surface gloss. For example art is really more about religion than art and just skips the major questions about art today. The section on truth relies on epistemological presuppositions that remain unquestioned. Derrida speaks about literature and religion (religion is a real theme throughout the book unfortunately). Some writers seem extremely uncomfortable giving up some inherent positivist position by which they critique Pragmatism and Rorty in specific. It just all seems so outdated, more 1989 than 2003. Even the necessity of tacking on the last chapter re: feminism in which the single woman in the book is seen, feels like a worn out idea. We saw enough of this back then. I underlined about three sentences that seemed useful but I'm almost regretting it because I'd feel ashamed in citing this book. The highlight: Great title.

About the Author
Sue Cowley is an expert on behaviour management, and on creative approaches to teaching and learning. She has written numerous bestselling education and parenting books, which have been translated and published around the world. Sue has written for many teaching publications, including the TES and Nursery Education, and she had her own series, 'Manage that Class' on Teachers TV. Sue has also appeared in front of the Education Select Committee, as an expert witness on behaviour in schools. She now works internationally as a trainer and presenter, as well as volunteering in education settings in the UK to ensure that her advice and practice remains relevant to teaching today.

This book is packed with practical realistic suggestions on how to effectively manage the classroom at the primary, secondary, and college level. I highly recommend it to any teachers that have problems with discipline.

Wonderful!

Very useful advice for any job where you have to deal with lots of young kids. I conduct a Middle School choir and all the information and tips were really valuable. After reading just 10 pages, I managed to get better discipline during the rehearsal!
