Review
'the authors have succeeded in dealing clearly with the most central concerns of logicians in the 21st Century...It is refreshing to note that the authors do not find it necessary to burden this book with too many formalisations and an exaggerated use of symbolic logic. This makes the book accessible for everybody who wants to know more about what could make thinking rational and reasoning logical...The authors have achieved a delicate balance between providing information on logical problems and digging into their relationship with a wider philosophical context.'~ E. Van Laerhoven, Acta Comparanda XVII
'the four joint authors of Logic...meet their readers on the latter's own ground..and lace their expositions with a disarming sense of humour.' Times Higher Education Supplement, May 2006 (Henry Mardy Times Educational Supplement)

(P & L) -> G
By Robbie D
This book is an introduction to the philosophy of logic, not logic itself in all its many forms. It is written for the burgeoning philosopher who wants to understand important problems in logic without having to immediately plunge into the murky symbolic substructure where minding your P's and Q's takes on a whole new meaning. For those who enjoy philosophy (P) and are new to the philosophy of logic (L), this is a good place to start (G).

Not for Novices
By G Willikers
If you are new to the study of logic, this book is not what you are seeking. The text does not flow well (the result of having four co-authors, perhaps?), the typesetting is distracting, and the content is not suited to beginners. The book may be better suited to someone seeking to brush up on the principles of logic after a long period has passed since formal studies of the subject.
